Welcome to our November/December edition of Children & Youth.

Our weekly materials start with an outline for All Saints Day (which falls on a Sunday this year), where we consider what it might mean to live our whole lives in worship. We continue to think about our commitment to God as we look at Joshua’s covenant between God and the Israelites. We then explore Deborah’s example of how to receive from God, before we reflect on the idea of God as our Shepherd in Ezekiel.

As we move into Lectionary Year B , we pick up the familiar New Testament Advent readings; our themes include remembering to watch and wait for Christ’s coming, heeding prophetic voices today, and appreciating Mary’s wonder at the news of her special, God-given role. There’s a new Advent drama What’s it all about?, exploring what really matters at Christmas, which would work well for a carol service or similar occasion.

Dr Mark Griffiths helps us explore how young people can share their faith in Creating confident Christians. And we have two brand new seasonal resources that can be used for mission and outreach – an all-age Christingle service and a ‘safari supper’ Posada journey for youth groups.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that both the Uniting Church in Australia (Synod of Victoria and Tasmania) and the Baptist Union of Great Britain have now officially joined the Roots ecumenical partnership. We are delighted to be able to help resource more churches in Australia and the UK, and we look forward to learning more from each other as we collaborate further.

We pray that these materials will be a blessing to you and all those you serve.
