Welcome to the September/October issue of Worship Together.

We continue our journey through the Exodus story in our focus passages, with Arnold Browne highlighting how we have much to learn from the life of Moses as a foreshadowing of Jesus. Some passages contain elements of violence that can be difficult to grapple with. Andrew Ollerton has written a helpful article for unpacking these issues. Our weekly material continues to include the Moses jigsaw ‘timeline’ series (illustrated by Daisy Barnes), with pieces to be displayed in large format or printed for individuals. And there are two sets of Bread & Wine Communion Prayers that go particularly well with two of the weekly resources and have matching titles: Enough! and A God to honour.

In the UK, we are entering Autumn, and many will hold harvest celebrations over the coming weeks. The importance of the land is central to our rural communities all year round, and so Roots is in the process of producing resources for five agricultural celebrations. You can read about them in our introductory article Reconnecting communities to the land. These service plans are designed to be used by rural and urban communities alike, helping us all to connect with God’s creation.

To celebrate the cosier elements of this season we have a Hygge Harvest resource. This could work well as a one-off session, or the activities could be used across a series of weeks.

Crises in our communities are a sad reality of life. Unpredictable and often having long-lasting effects, it can be hard for church leaders to know how to respond. Will Van Der Hart shares thoughtfully on how churches can offer immediate and long-term support in the darkest of times.

And, finally, in the latest article for our Reimagining Evangelism series, Justin Brierly discusses the surprising decline in New Atheism.

I hope these resources provide enriching worship for you and your churches in the coming weeks.
